After school activities are the rage of the day. With about $500 million invested in these programs and more than 10 million children attending them in America alone, the popularity of these activities cannot be overlooked. Everyone understands the need to develop new skills, gain more knowledge and keep the children safe when parents are working.

Newton's Law of Motion - likely stolen from an actual thinker - states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I think the same is true with many other things, including New Orleans. The city, it's people and their culture, are reacting to the devastation brought on by the hurricanes and the negligence of those whose job it was to minimize that devastation. They are reacting in a way which should inspire people the world over and encourage us all to work toward effecting positive change. Mallory is a part of that reaction. For that, she should be praised. But, more than that, she should be emulated.

Mal once again you reduce me to tears with your heart and eloquence. A gift of my Service has been the opportunity to call people like you friend. You are one of the treasures of my Service. You humble me. Thank you.

Mallory, you have said many of the things that I have felt throughout my service year and why I decided to stay after it was over. I still may not know exactly were I fit down here but I somehow feel like I belong.
